Boo

Strange Halloween.

But in my neighborhood it doesn't need to be Halloween for things to be strange....

March 14th, 2008
Scene: Waiting to pick up my son outside his elementary school cafeteria.

Lady: You're the folks who bought the yellow house on the corner?

Me: Yes, Hi. (Extending hand for a shake) I'm Cori.

Lady
: (Shaking hand) Yea, my niece.. she died in your living room.

Me: Oh. Hum. (Taking hand back and putting it in pocket.)

Lady
: Yep, she was only 25. She left two small children behind. So if you see her spirit tell her her Auntie Janie said hello!

Me: Um, Okay!

October 31, 2009- tonight
Scene: My front door greeting trick-or-treeting teenagers

zombie teens: Trick-or-treat!

Me: Happy Halloween (putting candy into pillowcases)

zombie teen girl: Me and my brother used to live here when we were little.

Me: Oh. Hum... (gasp!)

Shiver.  Who goes trick-or-treating at the house where their mother died?   Sigh.

That zombie teen girl, her great aunt, and this damned pumpkin my husband carved with the kids will definitely keep me up tonight.

Xanadu

It's done. No more sexually suggestive blog titles.  I've learned my lesson La Gatita.  Keep dancing Amiga, keep dancing.

Tinker is an old nickname.  I think it will suit this blog well.

As for the dusty rose- that just fell out of me.  I know it's not very punk-rock... it's more Sara-jane.  But I think it's worth a "figure-out" before I change it.

Now, let's begin.

October is almost over...

There has been a drag to this month. It has been so unbelievably busy, yet it still goes by so slow. I love October for all its smells and flavors, but most of all for its crisp lettuce weather. Chilly and snappy.

I'm still redecorating here. Trying to make this blog what it should be. I'm not set on a name as of yet. Maybe it will stay "The Plastic Cat". Maybe it won't. October is not a month for decisions. It's a month for making pies and stews.

I've been back in the resin again. Dealing with that love/hate relationship. Slow pours and bubble hunting. Here's a few of my newest creations...

October is the month of "..."
